This is a special mailing to the previous attendees of the OWOA Towing & Recovery School that was held last year in Oklahoma City. Since you attended the last school I don’t need to try to sell you on how much is learned and shared at an event like this. Dewey is trying to top last year’s school with some interesting recoveries. This is a reminder to make sure you don’t miss out on the $50.00 “early bird” savings for early enrollment. You need to send this application in soon if you want to be eligible for the savings. Some of you have already sent the form and fees in and we appreciate the help in preparing for the class. You don’t want to miss this school.
This year we are hosting a light duty school on Tuesday and Thursday. Tommy Luciano is an excellent instructor and no matter what size of truck or recovery, there is always something special to learn. Not only that, he shows you how to recover vehicles in a safe manner that doesn’t damage your truck and keeps it safe.
Don’t forget the brainstorming session on Thursday evening. It is open to all to attend. If you aren’t sure you want to attend the class again, at least come to the brainstorming to see what new techniques and ideas Tommy has come up with. It never seems to be a boring discussion.
Dewey still has the tanker and is loading it up again for a recovery that will teach you a lot about how to perform this task safely and with confidence and not overload your equipment. Dewey has also located a “loaner” dozer and other construction equipment and is looking for a river bottom to drop it into to see how Tommy will get it out. This could be a very interesting Heavy-Duty class this year. We have a great classroom facility to use for our school.
Pre-enrollment for Light Duty is $200.00 for the first member and $150.00 for each additional member from the same company. Pre-enrollment for Heavy Duty is $250.00 for the first member and $150.00 for each additional member from the same company. A $100.00 deposit per head will hold your spot in class. We need this information to make sure we have enough study guides and meals. Signing up at the door adds $50.00 to the first member’s fees but not the others from the same company. Please don’t wait to sign up at the door or we may be forced to turn away some students, and we don’t want to do that.
Don’t forget that we are also giving the TRAA Level 1 & 2 Certification Test again this year. We plan to hold the test on Saturday after class. If we have enough that would like to take a test on Wednesday after the Light Duty class, we may be able to hold a test that evening also. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can set up a proctor for the Wednesday test. Remember, you must pass Level One before taking Level 2. You won’t be able to take both at the same time. Level One consists of 100 questions and you must make 80 percent to pass. Level Two consists of 200 questions and you must have 80% correct to pass this also. They are multiple-choice tests.
